Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Team News

Scotland have qualified for two previous European Championships - Euro '92 and Euro '96. They have failed to progress beyond the group stage on both occasions and have a Euro's final record that reads W2 D1 L3. Scotland's route to these finals came via penalty shoot-out wins in both their play-off semi-final and final, with Israel and Serbia losing out to the defiant Scots.

Steve Clarke, Scotland coach...

"The Czech Republic give us different problems to England and Croatia, so that can have a bearing on selection, but I am pretty settled [on the team]. The good thing for me is that no matter who I select, I expect them all to be fantastic for their country. As a manager or a coach, that’s a big thing that you can trust all your players."

Scotland Predicted Lineup

Marshall; Hanley, Cooper, Hendry; O'Donnell, Armstrong, McGinn, McTominay, Robertson; Dykes, Christie.

Key Player: John McGinn

McGinn has had an excellent season with Aston Villa in the English Premier League. Forming part of a formidable midfield trio with Ross Barkley and Jack Grealish. He was Scotlands leading goalscorer in qualifying with a tally of seven goals. His energy and ability to get around the pitch will be crucial to the Scots, who may not have a great deal of possession in games now the quality of the opposition is greater.

Jaroslav Šilhavý, Czech Republic coach...

"We know what to expect – tough one-on-ones, a sturdy opponent with straight-forward counters – and we have to be fully focused for 90 minutes. We are not going to give up our attacking style, though you cannot expect us to apply high press for all 90 minutes. But [we want a] tactically good performance worthy of three points."

Scotland v Czech Republic Head to Head

The two sides have been regular opponents in recent times, and maybe a little surprisingly it's Scotland who have had the upper hand. Having met twice in the group stages of the Nations League, Scotland came from behind to beat the Czech Republic with a 2-1 win in Olomouc. Then an early goal from Ryan Fraser earned the Scots their second victory in a 1-0 win at Hampden Park.

Scotland v Czech Republic Match Prediction

A tough call to make this one. The Czech Republic possess the quality to hurt Scotland, but with the Scot's being on home soil as one of the 12 host nations, home advantage could be a factor. Recent head to head results in the Nations League could be a good indicator of recent form, and the Scot's edged out the Czech's on a single goal margin in both encounters.
