Check out our full betting preview for the latest team news, match odds and betting tips and predictions.
Netherlands 🇳🇱 Team News
The Oranje are making a return to the European Championship finals after missing out on Euro 2016. Ronald Koeman's side picked up 19 points on their way to finishing second in Group C qualifying. Koeman was replaced by Ronald de Boer in September 2020.
Frank de Boer, Netherlands coach...
"We've watched videos of Ukraine and I know some of their players; I've seen them playing. I think they are a good team with a lot of quality. They're well organised and play decent football, so straight away it's a tough opponent ... Matthijs de Ligt won’t be playing. And Maarten Stekelenburg is my first-choice keeper."
Netherlands Predicted Lineup
Stekelenburg; Dumfries, Timber, De Vrij, Blind, Wijndal; F de Jong, De Roon, Wijnaldum; Depay, Weghorst
Key Player: Memphis Depay
After a somewhat ordinary spell at Manchester United, Depay's move to French Ligue 1 side Lyon was just what the Dutchman needed. He has revitalised his career in France and is a crucial figure in a Lyon team challenging PSG for honours. He scored six goals and provided eight assists in qualifying - more than any other player, meaning he was directly involved in 58% of Dutch qualifying goals.
Ukraine 🇺🇦 Team News
Ukraine's third European Championship finals, having co-hosted with Poland in 2012 and qualifying for Euro 2016. However, they've not experienced much in the way of success in the final stages, and their record reads P6 W1 D0 L5.
Andriy Shevchenko, Ukraine coach...
"The main task for the team is to go through the group stage. We understand that we will have to play against very strong teams and that the Netherlands are one of the favourites. The main thing is that we have a certain style we are playing and we will not change that. We have our own principles which we abide by. So we might have an opportunity to play 4-3-3 or, for example, 3-5-2, but our own principles will not change.”
Ukraine Predicted Lineup
Bushchan; Karavaev, Zabarnyi, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Zinchenko, Sydorchuk, Malinovskyi; Yarmolenko, Yaremchuk, Zubkov
Key Player: Andriy Yarmolenko
Yarmolenko has found himself on the West Ham first team's periphery, often coming from the bench as an impact substitute. Things are different on the International stage, where he's a pivotal part of this Ukraine side. He is the current leading goalscorer for his country, and ironically only coach Shevchenko has more.
Netherlands v Ukraine Head to Head
There have been no competitive matches between the two sides. The Dutch won a friendly in Amsterdam in 2008, and honours were even when they met in Donetsk in 2010.
Netherlands v Ukraine Match Prediction
Whilst Ukraine's record at Euro finals tournaments is pretty bad, they were unbeaten in qualifying, picking up 20 points and fending off Portugal in second place. It could be a very tight game, and Ukraine could get something out of the game.
